A: No, though I have let my CAPP certification lapse due to time constraints.

Q: On how many occasions have you been retained as an expert?
A: I would have to check my records--several times over the years. I have been deposed about three times, and spent 2 days on the witness stand in the course of my first expert engagement. Most of my cases settle out of court.

Q: For what area(s) of expertise have you been retained as an expert?
A: Valuation of an opal that disappeared while in the hands of a jeweler; valuation of jewlery stolen during apartment renovation; valuation of rings accidentally cremated; valuation of a jeweler's inventory; valuation of jewelry destroyed by fire; valuation of a watch improperly seized by police and then lost; valuation of smuggled jewelry; valuation of smuggled South Sea Pearls, etc.

Q: In what percentage of your cases were you retained by the plaintiff?
A: I do not discriminate between plaintiff and defendant, and I am never an advocate. Though I have not kept tally, I expect the ratio is near 50-50.

Q: In what percentage of your cases were you retained by the defendant?
A: See above

Q: On how many occasions have you had your deposition taken?
A: I believe about three.

Q: When was the last time you had your deposition taken?
A: Several years ago.

Q: On how many occasions have you been qualified by a court to give expert testimony?
A: Probably around 20. My qualifications have never been rejected by a court.

Q: On how many occasions have you testified as an expert in court or before an arbitrator?
A: Twice.

Q: For how many years have you worked with the legal industry as an expert?
A: 12 years.

Q: What services do you offer? (E.g.: consulting, testing, reports, site inspections etc.)
A: Consulting, litigation support, gemological testing, appraisal reports/expert opinions, on-site inspections if necessary.
My best advice is to engage the expert for litigation support before deposing the other party.

Q: What is your hourly rate to consult with an attorney?
A: Please request my current fee schedule.

Q: What is your hourly rate to review documents?
A: See above
