I am Board Certified in Psychiatry, and Board Certified in Neurology (ABPN, American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology), dividing my professional time between patient care, forensic medical/neuropsychiatric consulting, research in neuropsychiatry, and teaching. I serve as Associate Professor of Neurology, SUNY Downstate Medical Center, and Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Columbia University,College of Physicians and Surgeons. Special interests in psychiatry are: Panic Disorder, Medical problems that cause psychological distress, Bipolar Disorder/Manic-Depressive Illness/Rapid cycling, Post-Traumatic Stress/PTSD, Prolonged grief reactions after loss, Personality disorders. In Neurology: Traumatic Brain Injury, Epilepsy and mood disturbance, Migraine headaches, Chronic pain. My focus/experience in Forensics is: Assessment of Traumatic Brain Injury/Cognitive impairment and PTSD, Severe psychological stress and posttraumatic stress disorder, Emotional and Physical Damages, Conscious Pain And Suffering. Public Psychiatry and Mental Hygiene Law, Mental Capacity, Leniency/Downward departure. Independent Medical Expert (IME) reviews are done in English, French, and German. I am also a licensed physician in Germany/EU.
