Dr. Siegert is a forensic and clinical psychologist, and former professor (Harvard and Columbia Universities.) When retained for civil matters, he specializes in employment evaluations, discrimination (including those covered under the ADA,) sexual harassment, psychological and neuropsychological effects of an accident or injury, and the effects of psychological or neuropsychological states upon actions or decisions of an individual. He also specializes in the detection of the genuineness versus exaggeration or malingering of psychological and neuropsychological symptoms.
When retained in criminal cases, his evaluations include competency to waive Miranda rights, competency to proceed, criminal responsibility (insanity, diminished capacity, guilty but mentally ill) and mitigating factors. Cognitive evaluations (including developmental disabilities, mental retardation, and autistic spectrum disorders) are a common part of his psychological evaluations, as are evaluations of personality factors and disorders, the psychosis (including delusions and paranoia,) and affective (mood) disorders. As a clinician and professor, he has administered or supervised more than 5,000 psychological test batteries.
