By training and experience, Dr. Lashner is a specialist in English syntax and linguistic analysis of communication content (i.e., content analysis). Formerly a university teacher, she is the owner and principal researcher at the company, Media Analysis & Communications Research which has been operating for more than twenty years. Her publications include a book and assorted articles in learned journals. She has been qualified as an expert on content analysis and has given testimony at trials and depositions.

Her specialties include linguistic analysis of newspapers, television, books, letters, scripts, interviews, advertisements, catalogs, manuals, contracts, secretly taped conversations, other discourse, and more--to identify meanings, inferences, innuendoes, bias, actual malice, damage to reputation, effectiveness of retractions, similarity to other documents, copyright infringement, plagiarism, breach of contract, authorship, and fraud.
Documents are evaluated as to words, phraseology, grammar, syntax, rhetoric, figurative language, juxtapositions, patterns, context, sources, attributions, spelling, punctuation, and other such factors of the linguistic environment.

Dr. Lashner's expertise is applicable to cases involving: LIBEL, SLANDER, INVASION OF PRIVACY, COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT, PLAGIARISM, IDENTIFICATION OF AUTHORSHIP, INTERPRETATION OF CONTRACTS, and in CRIMINAL CASES involving secretly taped conversations.
