Dr. Mayer is an full-time academic that serves as an expert witness from time to time. He is an epidemiologist and biostatistician trained in medicine and statistics. He is a Professor of Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Public Health and Psychiatry that divides his time between Baltimore and Phoenix. He has done consulting for a variety of businesses, non-profits and individuals for 30 years. His primary interests are the evaluation and validation of statistical and epidemiological models in a clinical, policy or legal arena. Focuses on problems where the medical issues are complex, the methods and models are varied and the data are limited. Has given about a dozen depositions, and has appeared in trial several times in a variety of cases ranging from major federal class-action and MDL litigation to state malpractice suits.
