Ms. Passaglia is an Advanced Practice Nurse with a Masters degree, Clinical Nurse Specialist, in the field of Oncology. Ms Passaglia has extensive experience. She specializes in Palliative Care and Oncology. Palliative care includes end-of-life care, pain and symptom management and advanced disease management.
Ms. Passaglia started a palliative care program in a 300 bed community hospital in 2002. This program averaged 550 consults per year. This program was a unique Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) model.
In her consultative role, physicians referred patients who required expertise in pain or symptom management. Ms. Passaglia made recommendations for resources and helped patients understand thier medical plan of care. She facilitated care conferences amongst the professional staff and their patients. She acted as the liaison for the multidisciplinary team.
Ms. Passaglia currently is the Program Manager for the Palliative Care Program at Stanford University Hospital. She is in the process of developing the palliative care program for the Medical Center. Ms. Passaglia also servee as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) School of Nursing lecturing on palliative care and mentoring graduate students.
