Dr. Jubin Merati is the President and founder of Merati Economic Group, Inc. He has over 20 years of consulting experience. Dr. Merati has rendered forensic economic services as an expert witness in over 2,000 cases in State and Federal Courts in California, Arizona, Utah and Florida.
Dr. Merati has analyzed a wide spectrum of businesses and industries ranging from the ordinary (the food service industry) to the esoteric (boat landing rights). He has been retained as an expert witness in actions involving the pharmaceutical, construction, technology, real estate, medical/health care, clothing, banking, manufacturing, cosmetics, entertainment, investment, neutroceuticals, auto repair and trucking industries as well as in actions involving educational institutions, studio prop rentals, dairy distribution rights, internet companies, professional practices and many others. Dr. Merati’s expertise includes all sectors of the economy (service, manufacturing, construction, transportation, agriculture, retail and wholesale).
Dr. Merati received his B.A. in Business Administration at California State University, Fullerton in 1981. He continued his education at California State University, Fullerton and received his M.A. in Economics in 1983. Thereafter, he entered into the Ph.D. Program at Claremont Graduate University, where he received his Ph.D. in Economics in 1997. His areas of concentration in his doctoral studies include law and economics, labor economics and international economics.
After earning his M.A., he joined Natelson Levander Whitney, where he provided economic and financial consulting and feasibility studies for private entities and government agencies in the area of urban development and land use strategies. He remained at Natelson Levander Whitney until 1986 when he joined Brinton Economics, Inc. as a forensic economist. In 1998, Dr. Merati and Dr. George Brinton co-founded Brinton Merati Economics, Inc., where he remained until he founded his present firm, Merati Economic Group, Inc. in June 2000.
Dr. Merati has served on the faculty at California State University, Fullerton, where he taught business economics, international economics, macroeconomics and microeconomics. In addition, Dr. Merati has developed and taught California State Bar approved Minimum Continuing Legal Education courses aimed at teaching attorneys the methods by which to determine economic damages in business and personal injury actions and aimed at teaching attorneys how to depose economic experts in business litigation, personal injury and employment matters.
Dr. Merati is designated as a Certified Forensic Financial Analyst (C.F.F.A.) under the auspice of the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. The C.F.F.A. designation is conferred on candidates with the requisite educational qualifications, established work experience and training to perform complex financial analyses.
Dr. Merati is also designated as a Business Valuator Accredited in Litigation (B.V.A.L.) under the auspice of the Institute of Business Appraisers. The B.V.A.L. designation demonstrates a business appraiser's ability to competently present expert testimony which
supports an objectively derived conclusion of value.
Dr. Merati is also a member of the following professional societies: the American Economic Association, the Western Economic Association, the Institute of Business Appraisers, the National Association of Forensic Economics and the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts.
