Dr. Shepard's area of expertise is Nephrology and Internal Medicine. He offers prompt, accurate, and convenient medical consultation. He is board certified in both specialties.
Dr. Shepard is founding director of Marin County's acute and chronic dialysis units, which Marin General Hospital physicians voted first place among subspecialty services at the hospital in 2004. Other experiences include: President, Marin Heart Association; Chairman, Marin General Intensive Care Unit; Chief of Medicine Marin General Hospital; founding member of the Marin Chapter of the Kidney Association and the Scientific Advisory Board for the Northern California Kidney Association.
After 40 years, Dr. Shepard closed his busy clinical practice in August 2005 to devote his full attention to legal consultation and expert witness services.
In October 2005, Dr. Shepard received a commendation for Clinical Excellence from the President of the Asian Pacific Society of Nephrology. In 2007, he was chosen to attend the International Renal Failure Academy in Romania, and in 2008, he participated in the Asian-Pacific Congress of Nephrology in Kuala Lumpur.
This year he has participated in the Renal Weekends conference in Washington, D.C. and will be attending the International Society of Nephrology meeting in Milan, Italy in May 2009.
He is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Nephrology at the University of California in San Francisco and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.
