DENISE P. BEKAERT, R.A., A.I.A – Construction Materials Performance Failures, Code Compliance, Professional Liability, Premises Liability
Ms. Bekaert brings 20 years experience in architecture and construction. She has worked on institutional and residential high-rises, conference and training facilities, exhibit spaces, stores, and restaurants. Her buildings included new construction, rehabs, and gut renovations. Her expertise includes compliance with New York State and City Building and Fire Protection Codes, NFPA and HUD requirements, ADA Guidelines, and recognized standards and accepted practices in design and construction.
Ms. Bekaert has directly managed and supervised the design and development, preparation of construction drawings, estimating, field construction monitoring, and sign-offs for construction projects.
Her practice is evenly divided between work for plaintiff and defense representatives.
She earned a B.S. in Architectural Studies from Florida A & M University, and an M.A. in Urban Studies from the Graduate School of the University of Maryland. She is a and Registered Architect in New York State.
Ms. Bekaert is a member of the American Institute of Architects, the American Society for Testing and Materials, the International Facilities Management Assoc., and the National Safety Council.
