Dr. Dan Osterweil's commitment to improving the lives of our elders can be seen in the focus of his career. A professor of medicine at UCLA, he completed a geriatrics fellowship at UCLA. He is currently the Editor Emeritus of the Journal of the American Medical Directors Association (JAMDA) and member of Caring for the Ages editorial board. He is a Co-Director of the Multicampus Program in Geriatrics and Gerontology, UCLA as well as the Director of a UCLA training program in medical management, and a research associate with UCLA Borun Center for Gerontological Research. Dr. Osterweil co-authored two editions of Medical Care in the Nursing Home, is the co-editor of Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment, and has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. Osterweil is the founder of the Specialized Ambulatory Geriatric Evaluation (S+AGE) Clinic, a community-based, geriatric assessment center in Sherman Oaks. His areas of expertise include cognitive assessment, decision making capacity determination, functional assessment, especially fall assessment, management of dementia, pressure ulcers, and continuous quality improvement in the nursing home. Dr. Osterweil is on faculty at the California Geriatric Education Center. He is a former Fellowship Director of the UCLA Multicampus Program in Geriatric Medicine & Gerontology, and a former Medical Director at the Jewish Home of the Aging and Beverly Hills Health & Rehabilitation. He brings expertise in planning and implementation of the work processes in the nursing home, communication with physicians and administrators, as well as in-depth knowledge of nursing home state and federal regulations.
