Bernard S. Rappaport, M.D. has been in the private practice of psychiatry in the San Francisco (East Bay) area of California for more than thirty years. Over the past twenty-four years Dr. Rappaport has been retained as a consultant and expert witness in many hundreds of civil litigation cases, involving a broad range of issues -- including personal injury, posttraumatic stress disorder, aviation events, standard of care, psychiatric aspects of physical injuries, head injuries, harassment/discrimination and other employment/workplace issues. He has testified at more than 85 trials, in both State and Federal courts, in various venues.

Dr. Rappaport received his Bachelors degree in psychology magna cum laude from Harvard University, obtained his M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and was a psychiatric resident at the Langley Porter Neuropsychiatric Institute of the University of California San Francisco. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and a member of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law. Dr. Rappaport was a faculty member for seventeen years at the University of California, Berkeley-San Francisco Joint Medical Program, teaching medical students courses in psychophysiology and doctor-patient relationship, as an Associate Clinical Professor.

In addition to maintaining his clinical practice of psychiatry and serving as a forensic consultant/expert witness, Dr. Rappaport is the corporate psychiatric consultant to Intel and Sun Microsystems.
