Barbara Barham is a Certified Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist (Advanced Practice Nurse) with both in-patient hospital experience as well as experience as a therapist in the out patient setting. As a therapist, she has worked extensively with individuals of most ages and families. She has expertise in mental health issues and issues related to Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia. She has given numerous educational presentations to professionals as well as community members about numerous topics in these areas. She frequently does education for the Upstate SC Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. She teaches psychiatric nursing in a university.
Barbara Barham is also a Certified Trauma Specialist and has extensive experience in crisis response as well as crisis intervention. She has done this work for several companies related to workplace traumas. She is also on an international crisis response team for Presbyterian Disaster Assistance and has done crisis response work and training in several different countries.
Barbara Barham has done expert witness work for several law firms in the Greenville, SC area in the areas of psychiatric or dementia patients in facilities. She has also provided expertise in custody/ guardianship issues with dementia patients. She previously has been a Designated Examiner and testified in hundreds of probate court hearings related to involuntary hospitalization. She is interested in continuing expert witness work in cases involving psychiatric or dementia patients.
